- Develop an understanding of faculty expectations of student responsibilities prior to administering medications in the hospital setting.
Required Pre-Simulation Learning Activities:
- Watch the Six Rights of Medication Administration video
- Read the article, "Medication errors: Why they happen and how they can be prevented"
- Watch the Purdue University video: Preventing Medication Errors
- Read and print the following resources from Institute of Safe Medication Practices:

*ISMP's List of High-Alert Medications
*ISMP’s List of Error-Prone Abbreviations, Symbols, and Dose Designations
- Complete the supplied worksheet for each of the medications listed as potentially being utilized during the simulation exercises. BRING THE COMPLETED MEDICATION WORKSHEET TO THE CLINICAL SIMULATION DAY
- Utilizing your Medical Surgical textbook research each of the disease processes and nursing considerations for the Potential Disorders your patient may have during the Clinical Simulation. COMPLETE THE SUPPLIED WORKSHEET AND BRING THE COMPLETED DISEASE PROCESSES WORKSHEET TO THE CLINICAL SIMULATION DAY.
